Must be able to swimi 25 yards (any stroke).

Be able to float on back for 60 seconds.

Be able to take off pair of socks in the water.

Or (as an alteranative), swim on back with arms folded on chest, for 15 yards.

Be able to "ducks dive" (i.e. dive while standing in the water or swimming).  Or (as alternative), perform a "honey pot" (i.e. jump with arms clasped round knees) from a board, bank or boat.

4) Tread water for 1 minute or float motionless for 30 seconds, not necessarily horizontally.

5) Do two of the following:

a) Pick up an object from a depth o f not less than 1 metre.

b) Mushroom float or star float with your face under water for 4 seconds.

c) Rolling, make one complete turn in each direction.

d) Sit on the pool bottom in water not less than 1 metre deep and blow bubbles.

e) Whilst treading water, submerge three times showing breath control.

* Be able to tell which is the shallow end and which is the deep end of a pool.
* Know what to do if you feel unwell in or near the pool, and if another swimmer is having difficulties.
