
1987 Brownie Badge Book - Swimmer Advanced Badge
You must have passed the Swimmer badge and he Water Rescuer badge before starting to work on the Swimmer Advanced.
1) Enter the water with a racing dive and swim 50 metres breast stroke, or front crawl, or butterfly in accordance with Amateur Swimming Association laws.
2) Beginning with a racing start, swim 50 metres back crawl in accordance with Amateur Swimming Association Laws.
3) Perform a tucked somersault forwards or backwards in water too deep to stand in.
4) Surface dive either head first or feet first to pick up an object at a depth of 1.5 metres.
5) On your back scull head first for 10 metres, turn a full circle in a tucked position and return to the starting position sculling feet first.
6) In either a dress or shorts and a T-shirt:
a) Jump into deep water.
b) Tread water for 3 minutes.
c) Climb out of deep water unaided.

2019 (July) Badge Finder - Swimmer Advanced Badge
1 Do all of the following.
- Jump into deep water and tread water for 30 seconds.
- Swim 25 metres of front crawl.
- Swim 25 metres of back crawl.
- Swim 25 metres of breaststroke.
- Scull head first, using your hands, for ten metres.
- In water that is shoulder-deep, swim through an underwater hoop.
- Demonstrate a mushroom float for ten seconds.
- Pick up an object from the pool floor.
- Swim ten metres of front crawl leg kick using a float.
- Confidently swim 50 metres using any strokes without stopping.
2. Do both of the following.
- Discuss with the tester the importance of hygiene and safety rules at your regular swimming pool.
- Know where it is safe to dive into a pool and what precautions you should take before diving.
3. Take part in one of the following as a taster session:
- diving
- synchronised swimming
- lifesaving
- water safety
- distance swimming
