1) Make an instrument and show how to use it.

2) Draw, trace or collect pictures of instruments of the orchestra and name them.

Make a small collection of pictures of instruments of other lands, and tell the tester what they are.

3) Be prepared to tell the tester about the instrumental families of the orchestra, and by listening to some music be able to pick out one of each family.

4) Tell the tester about any piece of music which you have heard on television, radio, record, tape or at a concert, that has interested you.  Take the record or cassette to the test with you if you like.

1) Choose three of the following:
* a pop group
* an orchestra
* a brass band
* a string quartet
* a pipe and drum band/marching band
* a steel band
* a country and western group
* another form of musical group.
Using pictures, tapes, diagrams or other methods, set up a display to show the formation of each group and they type of music played.
2) Over three months keep a diary of the different types of music you have heard.  Make comments about them.  Which do you prefer and why?
3) Choose three different pieces of music that you have enjoyed.  Play them to the tester and tell her or him what you like about them.
