From 1922-1927, the badges were changed to olive green stitching on a dark navy or black background, from 1928-1936 with 'Girl Guides' lettering on the outer ring. This was mainly to resolve difficulties of keeping the white felt badges clean. Though the colour resolved the difficulty of keeping the badges looking clean, they still didn't take laundry well.
