1973 Brownie Handbook - Dancer Badge


1) Folk Dance

Know six different dances, and be able to perform them really well; or

Modern Educational Dance 

Perform an original composition showing that you understand the use of space, strong and light movements, and sudden and sustained movements; or

Ballet

Hold the Grade 1 certificate of the Royal Academy of Dancing, or the British Ballet Organisation, or the Dance Teachers' Association, or the Imperial Society, or any other recognised equivalent.

At the test perform a dance of one minute's duration using the steps in that grade.

2) Do one of the following:

a) Make a scrapbook showing as many different kinds of dancing as possible.

b) Know the story of three well-known ballets.

c) Choose three countries.  Find out about the type of national dancing, the costume worn for it, and the sort of music used for accompaniment.
